KUPPET calls for unified approach to teachers’ concerns

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) will continue speaking for teachers and advising them on their welfare if only their unity was maintained.

Speaking during burial Mr. James Nyamasege’s father, a teacher at St. Peters Keberesi Secondary School, Kisii County, executive Secretary Joseph Abincha underscored the importance of unity.

He said that it is through unity that they could bargain with the government to increase their salaries under the Common Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

“If we remain divided, the government will take that advantage to exploit us,” he remarked.

The executive secretary, who was accompanied by his chairman Mr. Laban Ouko, lauded the teachers in Kenyenya Sub-county for their active contribution to the Benevolent Fund that assists them during their time of need.

He asked teachers to love and remain attached to their work places in spite of the allure of current political activity.

“Let us remain focused to helping our students within the squeezed time to cover the syllabus,” he said.

On participation in national politics, Abincha asked teachers to exercise their democratic right and guide other voters to make wise decisions because a country’s development or failure depends on the type of leaders they elect into office.

The secretary called for peaceful elections during the August elections to pave way for the smooth transition of power.
