KUPPET Bomet official to hold thanksgiving after winning coveted seat in polls

Newly elected Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Bomet Branch Gender Secretary, Evalyne Chepkirui, popularly known as Sanguya, is set to hold a thanksgiving service following her victory over incumbent Nancy Cherukwen in the recently concluded union elections.

Sanguya, who clinched the Gender Secretary seat after a closely contested race, announced that the thanksgiving ceremony will take place at Longisa A.G.C Church in Bomet East Sub County on April 6, 2026.

The service is expected to bring together teachers, union officials, family members and friends in celebration and gratitude.

According to the organisers, the thanksgiving event will provide her with an opportunity to thank God and appreciate teachers across Bomet County for entrusting her with the leadership mandate.

According to her supporters, the ceremony symbolizes humility, faith and recognition of the collective effort that led to her victory.

In her message to members ahead of the service, Sanguya expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support she received during the campaigns and pledged to serve diligently and inclusively.

“This victory belongs to all teachers who believed in change, unity and stronger representation within our union. We shall work together for the good of every member,” she said.

The service is also expected to emphasize reconciliation and unity among KUPPET members following the competitive election period.

She promises to champion teachers’ welfare, gender equity and professional growth within the Bomet Branch.
