Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Mercy Wahome has said that candidates who sat for 2021 KCSE can review their course choices from May once the KUCCPS application window is open.
“The KUCCPS application portal will be open in May. Candidates who wish to revise their course applications have an opportunity to do so once the portal opens,” she said.
Dr Wahome said all the 826,807 2021 KCSE candidates will transition to higher institutions of learning.
“The 145,145 candidates who scored above the minimum university entry grade of C+ will be eligible for government sponsorship in both public and private universities countrywide,” she pointed out.
Dr Wahome further explained that candidates who scored less than C+ will be eligible for government scholarship in Technical and Vocational Education and Training( TVETs) institutions.
About 681,662 candidates scored between C plain and E.
She concluded by saying that only those who apply through the portal will be considered for placement in universities and TVETs.
Speaking while releasing the KCSE results, Education CS Prof George Magoha pointed out that all students are eligible for transition into higher learning institutions.
He stressed on the need to focus on improving TVETs since many students will be joining the institutions.
KUCCPS first opened the application window in March where school principals were expected to submit their candidates’ course choices. Candidates have 18 available choices: six options are for degree, four for diploma, four for craft certificate and four for artisan certificate courses.
