The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) will host the country’s inaugural National Career Conference and Exhibition from January 27-29, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre,  to guide learners ahead of the annual placement cycle. Attendance is free, with participants required to register online.

KUCCPS says the three‑day forum lands at a pivotal moment, just before the main application window that typically opens in late March or early April, with revisions in May and June giving students and parents early, clear information to shape programme choices before submitting applications. Framed under the theme “Informed Career Choices: A Skilled and Competitive Workforce,” the event will link education pathways to labour market needs and demystify recent changes in higher education.

More than 100 institutions are expected, including public and private universities, TVET colleges, professional bodies and private sector partners. Learners will meet admissions teams, industry mentors and career experts to explore programmes, entry requirements and progression routes, while parents and guardians gain insight into emerging skills and the realities of graduate employment.

The conference programme features exhibitions, mentorship sessions, expert‑led talks on job market trends and on‑site KUCCPS clinics to handle placement queries. Government officials and sector stakeholders are slated to discuss how training can better align with national development priorities, from technical skills to professional accreditation.

KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer Mercy Wahome said the agency’s placement system is designed to uphold equity and merit, matching qualified students to programmes based on results, choices and available capacity. Centralised applications, she noted, help institutions attract learners from all regions while giving students a transparent route into higher education and training.

Students eyeing hospitality and tourism will benefit from a new partnership enabling access to Kenya Utalii College through KUCCPS. The collaboration is set for formal launch ahead of the 2026 placement cycle, expanding entry into specialised training and reinforcing fairness in admissions.

KUCCPS plans to make the conference an annual fixture, offering a consistent platform where learners can test options, refine ambitions and secure practical guidance before committing to applications that shape their academic and professional futures.
