The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened its portal for online applications for placement in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
The applications are open for KCSE candidates who completed their secondary education between the years 2000 and 2022, and KCSE certificate holders who have never made applications to pursue courses in institutions of higher learning.
Those interested should submit their application through the KUCCPS student portal (www.students.kuccps.net).
However, the notice clarified that those who sat for the exam in 2023 are not eligible.
“This application is not for the 2023 KCSE examination candidates. Their application will be opened in early 2024. More information will be provided,” the notice read.
KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Wahome said, “We encourage all Form Four leavers and other youth who qualify for TVET courses and have not yet applied to take advantage of the second application exercise.”
She noted that due to the government’s priorities in the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda, many employment and career opportunities in the priority sectors await TVET graduates.
Dr. Wahome added that the agency has opened applications for admission to the Open University of Kenya where applications are free of charge and have no deadline.
“This is due to the uniqueness of the Open University’s mode of learning and flexible modular programme design that will allow students to study at their own pace and convenience,” she said.
In the 2022 KCSE exams, 869,782 candidates received their results, of whom 696,655 (80.1%) attained mean Grades ranging from C to E hence qualifying for Artisan, Craft and Diploma courses offered in TVET institutions.
