KUCCPS opens August intake for teachers seeking Diploma upgrade

Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced the opening of the August intake for teachers holding P1 or ECDE certificates seeking diploma upgrade.

In a statement released on Wednesday August 6, KUCCPS announced the opening of its application portal for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) program, which aims to provide a centralized placement system for qualified candidates.

Introduced by the Ministry of Education, the program is designed to support the professional growth of educators and enhance the quality of teaching across the country. The diploma curriculum is specifically aligned with the requirements of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.

The application window will remain open for two weeks, interested candidates need to possess a Certificate in Primary Teacher Education (P1) or Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and have a minimum KCSE grade of C (Plain).

To apply, candidates are advised to log in to the KUCCPS portal, select their preferred institution, and submit their application. KUCCPS has urged applicants to apply early to secure available slots. For those who encounter difficulties during the process, assistance is available at any nearby Huduma Centre.

The training will be offered at 33 public Primary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) nationwide.
