KSSSA standards best among secondary sports associations globally, says Kibra MP

By Peter Otuoro

Kibra Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Orero has said that the  Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) games are the most organized games among secondary schools sports associations in the world.

Orero said that according to a report from World Secondary School Sports, KSSSA was well-organized and one of the best globally.

He indicated that the government through teachers, students and the Ministry of Education had given sports the necessary support to make it perform well hence producing world class players.

“Most of the players in Kenyan, East African, European, Asian and other countries’ leagues are chosen due to their impressive performance in these KSSSA games and that is a clear indication that KSSSA games have an impact in a student’s life,” said Orero.

The MP who was speaking in Nakuru High school during the KSSSA National championships, told the participants to play professionally having in mind that they will be future professional players and earn a living out of it.

He also said that he will fight for an increase of sports funds for schools to ensure the current status of sports in schools improves.

“I promise to raise the issue of increasing allocated funds for sports in education institutions in the National Assembly. This will give teachers and students quality environment and capability to further improve standards of sports talents,” said Orero.
