As the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national games kick off in Kakamega today, several schools will be seeking to defend their titles as others seek to carry it for the first time.
Kayatiwi (from Coast), Wiyeta (Rift Valley, Koyonzo (Western), and Kwanthanze (Eastern)will jealously defend their football, volleyball, rugby and netball titles in both the boys’ and girls’ categories.
Wiyeta in Pool ‘B’ and will battle it out with Mbitini from the Eastern, Lwak and Madira from the Western region.
Pool ‘B’ has western champions Butere, Central’s Njambini, Nairobi’s Dagoretti and Kombani from the Coast region.
KSSSA chairman Kipchumba Maiyo confirmed that all schools have arrived in Kakamega in readiness for the championships and he expects a fierce battle among them.
“We want to have a very successful championship here.
I hope all teams have been preparing well for the tough encounter since they will not just be seeking the national title but a ticket for the East Africa regional games later in the month,” said Maiyo
