KSSSA inspection team settles on venues for national competitions

Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Nyanza Region has finalized arrangements for hosting National Term Two Secondary Schools Championship in Kisii County.

According to accomplished inspection summary report certified by Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika, all soccer teams will play at Gusii stadium, Kisii School at pitch 1 and Cardinal Otunga High School at pitch 2.

Kisii School fields will host volley ball teams for girl’s category and other teams like netball, handball rugby Sevens, badminton and table tennis.

The rest of the matches that include law tennis and volley ball for boys will be played at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School.

According to KSSSA Kisii County Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika, a referees’ clinic is scheduled for August 1, at Kisii School, while teams are expected to arrive the following day on August 2, 2024.

“On August 3, teams will be allowed to rest and the hosting schools might choose to plant trees as one way of bonding,” said Nyantika.

The opening Ceremony and closing ceremonies of the tournament which will be graced by Kisii County Governor Simba Arati and other prominent officials, will take place at Gusii stadium respectively.

The officials assured all teams traveling from the rest of the country of their safety saying that the girls’ competitors will be accommodated at Nyabururu Girls High School as their counterparts domiciled at Kisii School.

“We welcome all our visitors to Kisii County the land of Matoke,”said Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association Chairman and Kisii School Principal Fred Mogaka.

Teams that will represent the region at the nationals  include; Koderobara (boys’ football), St Alfred’s Alara and Nyakach Girls (football), Nyakongo Girls (volleyball), Nyakongo Boys (volleyball), Oyugi Ogango (netball), St Mary’s Yala, Friends School Anjego, Kisii School and Otieno Oyoo (boys’ rugby 7s), Nyakach Girls, Nyagechenche Mixed, Sidindi and Nyakongo Girls (girls’ rugby 7s).
