Teachers in Kajiado County have ushered in a new leadership team in the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) following a competitive branch election that reshaped the union’s local hierarchy.

Martin Koikai, a teacher at Moi Isinya Girls, was elected the new Executive Secretary of the KUPPET Kajiado branch, emerging as the overall winner in the closely followed polls. He now assumes the influential administrative office that coordinates union activities, oversees branch operations and serves as the chief representative of post-primary teachers in the county.

Koikai’s role will place him at the centre of labour engagement matters involving teachers, including negotiations with education authorities, dispute resolution and advocacy on professional welfare.
