KNUT calls for better services in Teachers’ Medical Plan

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Nakuru Branch, has called for improved services in teachers medical plan which is offered by Minet Kenya in order to enable teachers to perform their duties effectively.

The branch Executive Secretary Anthony Geoche, while speaking during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Nakuru County Government and Minet Health Care Plan recently at the county offices said teachers faced some challenges with the scheme and called on MINET to improve on its services.

Geoche who did not clearly pinpoint the exact problems of the medical plan, said teachers were important people in the society and they deserved quality hearth services in order to provide better teaching services in schools.

“Teachers are noble people in our society they should get quality health services, we urge Minet Health care plan to ensure they provide good services to our teachers”, said Gioche.

The public hospitals that are affiliated to Minet in Nakuru County include Nakuru County Refferal and Teaching Hospital,Naivasha Sub County Hospital,Mai Mahiu Health Centre,Gilgil Sub County Hospital,Njoro Sub County Hospital,Mauche Health Center,Molo Sub County Hospital,Soin Sub County Hospital,Rongai Health Center,Bahati Sub County Hospital,Subukia Sub County Hospital.

Other are Kamaara Health Centre,Langalanga Sub County Hospital,Bondeni Sub County Hospital,Kiptangwanyi Health Centre and Mirugi Kariuki Sub County Hospital.

At the same time, Nakuru County Executive Committee Member of Health Roselyn Mungai said that the government will ensure that all teachers get quality health services together with their beneficiaries.
