A new opinion poll has placed incumbent Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Transmara Branch Executive Secretary, Willy Korir, in a commanding lead ahead of his competitors as the union election season enters its final stretch.
The survey, conducted between October 20 and 23, 2025, sampled 468 KNUT-registered teachers from the three sub-counties of Transmara South, East, and West, with a margin of error of ±3.5%.
It sought to gauge the current mood among teachers as campaigns for the key branch leadership position gather momentum.
The polls is slated for early next year.
According to the findings, Mr. Korir maintains a solid grip on support across all the sub-counties, with teachers overwhelmingly citing his accessibility, commitment to their welfare, and a calm but effective leadership style.

In Transmara South, the poll shows Korir commanding 70 percent of the vote, followed by Mr. John Charles Sankale at 20 percent, while Mr. Charles Milgo and Mr. Makhala each garnered 5 percent.
Respondents said they appreciate Korir’s consistency in addressing teachers’ grievances and his availability whenever issues arise.
In Transmara East, the incumbent extended his lead even further, securing 75 percent of the respondents’ support. Mr. Milgo followed with 20 percent, while Mr. Sankale managed 5 percent.
Many teachers described Korir as “a calm and steady leader who delivers more and speaks less,” underscoring a perception of reliability and quiet effectiveness that seems to appeal to the teaching fraternity.
The race in Transmara West appears virtually decided, with Korir enjoying an impressive 85 percent approval rating. His rivals: Sankale, Milgo, and Makhala, each tied at 5 percent.

Analysts attribute this overwhelming dominance to Korir’s recent Meet-the-Teachers Tour, which re-energized his grassroots networks and reminded teachers of his long-standing service to their cause.
Overall, the combined results across the Transmara Branch place Willy Korir far ahead with 77 percent, followed by Charles Milgo with 10 percent, John Charles Sankale with 9 percent, and Makhala trailing with 4 percent.
An analyst familiar with KNUT affairs observed that the poll results reflect a consistent pattern of confidence in Korir’s leadership.
“His blend of experience, accessibility, and results-oriented service continues to resonate strongly with teachers across Transmara,” the analyst said, adding that unless an extraordinary shift occurs, the incumbent remains the clear frontrunner heading into the final campaign stretch.
The findings suggest that the majority of teachers across Transmara prefer continuity and stability in the union’s leadership.
As campaigns intensify in the coming weeks, one message stands out clearly from the classrooms and staffrooms across the region, Korir still commands the trust of the teachers he serves.
