Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Trans Mara Branch has rejected the nomination of Julius Migosi as CS for education, saying professionalism was not considered.
Speaking to the congregation of Enosain Church in Kilgoris town yesterday, Executive Secretary Willy Korir said that Migosi is not an educationist and advised President William to nominate him into a different docket where he is an expert.
He asked the president to avoid nominating, appointing and rewarding his political supporters with sensitive positions like the education sector, recalling times the country was given lawyers for education ministers, resulting in a mess of the system.
“During Stephen Kalonzo’s tenure as minister for education, teachers went on the rampage several times because of poor services. We don’t want the ministry to be run by lawyers anymore,” he said, asking the president not to put the cart before the horse and accusing him of tribalism in appointments as the last two CSs for education have been from Kisii.
However, he suggested that must he stick to Kisii for an education CS, then he should bring back Dr Fred Matiangi whose record in the ministry speaks for itself.
