Makueni woman representative Rose Museo has been hailed by Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) leadership both national and local as one person who has always supported them all the time.
Starting with KNUT secretary general Collins Oyuu who was chief guest during Makueni branch where he appreciated Museo for fully supporting him even during his campaigns, he noted that it’s always good to give flowers to people when they are alive.
Makueni branch executive secretary Benson Ndambuki on his side noted that Museo is a leader who has always walked with KNUT whether in the hour of need or not.
“She is the patron of the branch union bus which has given identity to our branch and has always walked with teachers all the time. He has always answered our calls when we do,” Ndambuki said
While speaking on the same event, she called upon leaders to respect and recognize trade unions adding that teachers do exceptional work and they are always in her heart promising to continue supporting them.

“We should also have fair recruitment and remuneration of teachers,” Museo said
Reacting to former prime ministers proposal to have devolved education, she said it is very difficult to devolve education since the economy of the country can’t support that.
“Education is important aspect in life. In my view it will be very difficult considering our economy. If they are talking about devolving recruitment that is something we can try but we are not yet there to devolve education,” Museo said.
She called upon teachers to be defenders of education adding that the country can just evaluate itself in terms of CBE before trying anything else.
On capitation, she noted that it should be timely reminding the leaders that there is need to improve on what is there before jumping on devolving education.
While commenting on devolving education same PS aviation and aerospace development Terry Mbaika said she doubts if that is the position of the government.

“I completely understand why teachers are against devolving education. I highly doubt if this is the position of the government. I do not see any cause for alarm. Let us relax, it can not just happen overnight, it has to go through rigorous processes including public participation,” Mbaika said.
She called for protection of children against sexual offenders adding that they should face the law when caught.
Director KEMRI Damaris Maweu noted that the government has employed many teachers and no regime has ever employed many teachers like the current.
Special economic zones chairman Fredrick Muteti while speaking on the same event called for merging of bursaries.
