The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Mogotio/Koibatek Branch, has assured the public that candidates in the region are fully prepared for the upcoming national examinations.
Branch Executive Secretary Francis Bundotich, addressing the press in the area, stated that both teachers and students have fulfilled their roles in the preparation process.
“Teachers did their bit and candidates have expressed readiness for the exams,” Bundotich said, projecting an air of confidence.
He confirmed that all primary and secondary schools in the region have completed the necessary pre-examination briefings. While acknowledging the challenges associated with the new Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA), Bundotich credited the government for its supportive role.
“Although Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) is new and has had many challenges, the government did its best to ensure all is set,” he stated.
He specifically lauded two key government initiatives, noting, “the retooling of teachers and provision of learning materials… contributed to the students’ preparations.”

Despite the positive outlook on exam readiness, Bundotich raised a significant concern regarding school funding. He issued a strong call to the government “to address the capitation delays once and for all,” warning that “delayed capitation has pushed schools into problems.”
The assurance from the teachers’ union comes as over 4 million students across the country prepare to sit for examinations at various levels. Schools are scheduled to close beginning this week to allow for the administration of the tests.
For the inaugural KJSEA cohort, the process will extend beyond the exam itself. Upon marking, a moderation exercise will be conducted before students are placed into various secondary schools based on the three pathways outlined in the Competency Based Education (CBE).
