KNUT Rongo branch Executive Secretary Madam Eunice Bosco has cautioned teachers countrywide against meddling in the ongoing KCSE examination.
Speaking to the Education News in her office, Bosco noted with concern that some teachers are perpetrators of exam malpractices as they look for exams papers which they dupe students to believe are the exams being tested.
“This has made some students not to put in a lot of efforts in doing revisions since they assume they have an easy way out,” she said, further asking the teachers to let the students revise and study as the two factors are enough to make a student pass.
The KNUT official said the government is very clear about exam malpractices, adding that it will not be easy for the union to defend a teacher caught red handed engaging in exam malpractices.
“Teachers are aware of the government’s stand on exam malpractices hence I’m asking them to avoid being found in such compromising situations. You did your best to teach the students for four years so it’s time to let them do their part,” she told the teachers.
She urged parents to be vigilant to avoid being conned by fraudsters claiming to have the exam papers.
“You fully invested in the education of your children for four years. Let them courageously prove to you that the investment was worth it,” she advised.
Bosco, who wished the best of luck to all candidates sitting their KCSE exams, urged female candidates to be as confident as their male counterparts as they are similarly capable of doing well in exams.
“Girls are capable. I am a living proof of that, as many other girls are. You can do well, or even better, than your male counterparts, she said.
She expressed optimism that schools within Rongo sub county, both primary and secondary schools, will do well in KPSEA, KCPE and KCSE exams and that a student from the region might be among the top students countrywide in the exams.
