Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) teachers across the country have been told to resort to dialogue in addressing issues affecting them.

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) second national Vice Chairman Aggrey Namisi has said that resorting to chaos would jeopardize chances of the teachers being absorbed into the government.

Namisi said they will be engaging the Teachers Service Commission from time to time in order to tackle issues affecting their members.

Speaking when he met KNUT branch executive committee members from Kisumu County, Namisi urged the JSS tutors to be patient as their grievances are looked into.

He said the group should reposition itself since the terms JSS will be replaced with comprehensive and senior schools in future.

The official said the KNUT structure will be restructured in order to incorporate JSS tutors right from the bottom to the top.

He said TSC should also address grievances raised by teachers across the country saying issues such as remuneration of teachers should be negotiable since it is a cardinal right.

The official noted that many teachers devote most of their lives mentoring children hence the need to accord them the requisite respect.

Earlier Namisi said all KNUT members will participate in tree planting exercises currently taking place in the country.

KNUT, he said, is alive to the fact that Climate Change is a threat to the existence of human beings unless dealt with early enough.

He led KNUT members in planting hundreds of tree seedlings at Nyamasaria Primary School in Kisumu.

Also present at the event were Alex Dunga and Olando Kwach (NEC) members, executive committee members namely George Ajwang from Bondo, David Obuon executive branch member Kisumu City, Elly Otieno chairman and his vice David Onege, Victor Ndolo treasurer and Grace Ousmba women representative.
