KNLS hands over its Kisii facility to county government

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati has said he will equip the library they were given to run by KNLS.

The Kenya National Library Services (KNLS) has handed over its Kisii town library to the county government.

Consequently, Governor Simba Arati has pledged to equip it and connect with internet and Information and Technology gadgets to foster services.

The governor said the county will set up libraries in all the sub-counties to enhance the culture of reading.

“I urge residents to take advantage of the library to embrace the culture of reading,” Arati said.

He was addressing a gathering at Cardinal Otunga High school- Mosocho, Kitutu Central Sub-county during Jamhuri Day celebrations.

ICT hubs, noted the governor, will be opened across the county’s 45 electoral Wards to boost e-learning, innovation and e-commerce, saying he will construct talent academies to tap talents among the youth.

The county, noted the governor, has constructed 128 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classrooms, up from 81 he inherited from the former governor James Ongwae’s regime.

“We want to build 145 ECDE classrooms this financial year and 20 workshops in Vocational Training Centres,” Arati added, promising to engage qualified contractors for that work.

The governor revealed that the county has increased Ward bursary fund from Ksh145 million to Ksh225 million, adding that students at Vocational Training Centres will also be given the bursaries.
