The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has announced that certificates for candidates who sat Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) examinations in March, July and November 2024 are now ready for collection.
In a circular dated January 8, KNEC said the certificates can be collected by heads of institutions or their authorised representatives. The notice was sent to county and sub-county education directors as well as heads of TVET institutions across the country.
KNEC stated that any issues or errors found on the certificates must be raised within 60 days from the date the certificates are released. All queries should reach the council on or before June 30, 2026.
The council explained that certificate queries should be submitted in writing through the heads of institutions. Candidates can also raise the queries online by logging into the KNEC portal and following the given instructions.
KNEC warned that late submission of certificate queries will attract a penalty. Any query raised after the 60-day period will be charged a fee of Ksh5, 000.

To support a certificate query, candidates are required to attach copies of all module result slips. They must also provide a copy of the certificate dispatch checklist from their institution.
In the same notice, KNEC gave guidance on applications for exemption from Module One of a course. This applies to candidates who already hold a certificate from a lower-level modular course.
According to the Council, applications for exemption can be made through the candidates’ institutions or sent directly to KNEC. Applicants must attach a copy of the lower-level certificate as well as copies of result slips for the modules they have passed.
KNEC further noted that candidates applying for exemption will be required to pay the full examination fee for the module they wish to be exempted from.
