The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has released new guidelines towards better preparation for the 2023 national examinations.

First, all the deployed 71,760 Centre Managers will mandatorily be required to attend all Kenya National Examinations Council’s (KNEC) briefing meetings in their respective sub-counties in the first week of October in person.

Further, no Supervisor or Invigilator will be retained in the Centres they served during last year’s national examinations. This is to reinforce the annual rotation of staff.

During the examination period, only Centre and Deputy Centre Managers will be required to be in school. Centre Managers will be in charge of the collection of exam papers which will be administered twice daily, with strict adherence to set rules and procedures.

KNEC will use 576 Containers for storage of Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and KCPE Examinations and 567 Containers for KCSE papers, with an additional 82 containers to facilitate storage for the 13 newly created sub-counties.

Furthermore, all examination Centres have been remapped to the nearest distribution points to enable every school to pick its examination papers efficiently, with Centre Managers being required to prepare a list of all support staff on duty and the list submitted to Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDEs) before the start of the exam period.

There will be no unauthorized persons who will be allowed into any examination centre except the Centre Managers, Supervisors and Invigilators.

In addition, sufficient plans have been put in place ahead of the expected El Nino rains to make sure examinations carry on uninterrupted.

A total of 223,223 teachers have been vetted to serve as Supervisors and Invigilators while an additional 37,731 teachers will serve as Examiners.
