The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has commenced the second phase of training for Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examiners today, August 4, 2025. This phase began with the Training of Trainers (ToT), who will later cascade the knowledge to other examiners.
In April, KNEC successfully conducted the first phase, equipping 7,273 examiners with the necessary assessment skills. By the end of this ongoing phase, scheduled to end on August 12, 2025, the total number of trained examiners will reach 14,500.

The trained examiners will be responsible for marking the assessments of learners who will sit the KJSEA in November 2025. KNEC has emphasized the critical role these examiners will play in maintaining integrity and fairness in the assessment process.
KNEC has said that the training exercise will continue across designated training centres, with hundreds of trainers undergoing sessions on marking guidelines, standardization procedures and ethical practices. These trainers will then guide the rest of the examiners to ensure a unified marking approach.
