Teacher examiners set for 7-day KNEC training

KNEC training examiners education

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training of examiners for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations between August 13th and August 19th, 2023.

The training fee is Ksh10, 500 and will only be made by the shortlisted applicants who will be notified through a text message and the portal on how to make the payments.

The venue for training will be communicated to the shortlisted applicants upon payment of the training fee as stated in a notice from the KNEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

According to the notice released on July 11, 2023, the exercise will be strictly residential.

KNEC will thereafter engage such examiners using the criteria for recruitment of examiners based on the personnel needs for each paper.

“Teachers who already trained as KCSE examiners and are in the KNEC database of examiners need not apply,” KNEC CEO David Njengere said.

Applications are therefore invited from interested and qualified teachers since the training slots are limited and once the required numbers are attained, the online application portal will close down.

Examiners will be trained for the following examination papers; Kiswahili (Insha, Lugha, Fasihi), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Home Science, Islamic Religious Education, Agriculture, French, Arabic, and Business Studies.

Interested candidates must be practicing teachers in the relevant subject area at the secondary school level.

They must be registered or employed by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and have a diploma in education and above.

They should have a minimum teaching experience of three years and not be on interdiction or any other form of disciplinary action by the TSC.

In addition, applicants must be recommended by their head of institutions and be 50 years of age and below.

Applicants have been advised to access the KNEC examiners’ portal for application.
