KMTC Iten student makes last-minute plea for fees to sit final exam

KMTC Iten student Faith Jerono Korir pleads for support to clear fee balance before November 24 exam registration deadline in Elgeyo Marakwet.

A final-year student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Iten campus in Elgeyo Marakwet has appealed to well-wishers to help her clear an outstanding fee balance so she can register for her final examinations scheduled for November 24, 2025.

Faith Jerono Korir, who is pursuing a Diploma in Community Health Assistance, said she risks missing her last chance to sit for the exam after failing to raise the required amount.

Jerono joined KMTC in March 2023 and was initially scheduled to sit for her final exams in February 2025, but missed them due to fee arrears.

The student said the institution has given her a final opportunity to complete her studies, but she must first clear her remaining school fees before being allowed to register.

She has so far raised part of the amount, but still faces a significant shortfall.

Jerono, who comes from a vulnerable family in Kapkoi, said her earlier attempts to seek support within her community exposed her to harassment and hurtful remarks, pushing her to seek assistance through safer platforms.

“This is my last chance to complete my studies. I am appealing to anyone who can assist, even with a small contribution, to help me clear the fees and sit for the exam,” she said.

She added that missing the upcoming examinations would derail her dream of becoming a Community Health Worker, a role she hopes will enable her to give back to society and support underserved communities.

With only a few days left before the registration deadline, the student.has urged members of the public, leaders, and well-wishers to support her so she can complete her training and transition into the healthcare workforce.

Korir expressed gratitude to those who have already supported her and remains hopeful that she will overcome the final hurdle standing between her and graduation.
