KMTC expels students over fake entry papers

By Vostine Ratemo

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has done away with a number of students who have been proved to have gotten admission into the institution using fake examination papers after suspicion grew over a series of poor results during training.

Some 20 students so far have been axed with 15 of these coming from KMTC Garissa Campus while the rest five are students from Port Reitz Campus. The students were nabbed with fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

“Following official verification of your academic certificates and credentials with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), it has been established that you presented fraudulent qualifications to the collage to secure an admission.

“Additionally, and based on the verified results you do not meet the minimum requirements for an admission at the collage to pursue pure Diploma in Community Health Nursing course,” a letter from KMTC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kelly Oluoch addressing one of the affected students read.

At the same time, KMTC is currently admitting students this month, March intake, with the collage having slots for 13,000 students.
