Kivaywa Boys welcomes new principal as Kagwana quits to join politics

The Board named Enos Wamalwa Lichuma, former boarding master at St. Luke’s Kimilili and noted for his leadership, as the new head of the institution.

Kivaywa Boys High School has ushered in a new chapter of leadership with the appointment of Enos Wamalwa Lichuma as the new principal. The seasoned educationist takes over the mantle following the resignation of Simon Kagwana, who has formally exited the education sector to pursue a career in politics.

Kagwana’s departure comes as he launches his bid for elective office in the forthcoming Malava Constituency parliamentary by-election. His transition into active politics marks the end of a notable tenure at Kivaywa Boys, where he was credited with driving academic reforms and fostering a culture of discipline.

In a seamless succession, the Board of Management has tapped Lichuma, a respected figure in education circles, to steer the institution forward. Before his latest appointment, Lichuma served as boarding master at St Luke’s Kimilili Boys High School, where he distinguished himself in student welfare and leadership.

Speaking after his official installation, Lichuma expressed both humility and resolve. “It is a great honour to lead Kivaywa Boys, a school with a rich legacy and high expectations. I am committed to working collaboratively with staff, students, and stakeholders to sustain excellence and drive progressive transformation,” he stated.

Education stakeholders in Matete Sub-county have welcomed the appointment, lauding Lichuma’s professional track record and expressing optimism about the school’s future trajectory under his leadership.

Kivaywa Boys High School, a cornerstone institution in Kakamega County’s academic landscape, is expected to continue its tradition of excellence under the stewardship of its new principal.
