Kitui County Governor Dr Julius Malombe has called upon young people to advance their education, adding that education is lifelong.
Speaking at Makindu during the burial of Makueni County ECM for trade, Dr Sonia Nzilani, the governor, encouraged young people to pursue certificates, diplomas, degrees, etc., which will help them in many avenues as they seek jobs or even promotions.
He encouraged young people to emulate the late Sonia’s passion for education.
He pledged to support the deceased children’s education, alongside Makueni County Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.
“I have permitted Governor Mutula to contact me and ask for any amount of fee for the children left behind. God has blessed me, and I should give to others as well. Let us join hands to see the success of these children,” Malombe said.

Adding to his support, Malombe affirmed that Sonia’s legacy would be safeguarded and that her children’s future would be secured.
He praised her commitment to regional development, describing the deceased as passionate about her job and a knowledgeable Makueni County employee who interacted well with other leaders, even beyond the county.
While addressing the mourners, Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr. pledged strong support for Dr Sonia’s children and announced the establishment of an education fund in her honour.
He revealed that a million-shilling fund had been set up to support Dr Sonia’s children through their education, terming it a fitting tribute to a leader who valued learning and service.
