Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga has pledged to begin allocating more NG-CDF funds toward Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the area.

Odinga said that TVET colleges impart practical knowledge and skills that are in high demand in the current job market.

Speaking at Rabuor Primary School, Odinga said that most school leavers do not have the requisite skills required in job markets.

Odinga said that plans are underway to have trainees secure government trade tests while others are being trained in online marketing and agriculture.

During the function, the County MP issued bursaries worth Ksh8.8 million, water tanks and solar panels.

She called on area leaders to shun the culture of giving out handouts to the youth and instead empower their acquisition of skills and boost their economic activities.
