Kisumu county government and the leadership of Rabat in Morocco have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will see health workers from Kisumu become beneficiaries of an ambitious masters’ scholarship programme.
The deal was witnessed by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and the President du Conseil de la region Rabat Rachid El Abdi.
Nyong’o said the Ministry of Interior has also chipped into the programme and that 50,400 Euros will be spent during the two year deal.
He lauded the city of Rabat for the kind gesture noting that health workers in Kisumu county stand to benefit a lot.
“As Africa moves towards greater integration for shared prosperity, it has been realized that this unity dream will be accelerated with the integration of territorial communes,” Nyong’o said, adding that the two cities have cooperated to exploit shared interests in the areas of health, investments and tourism.
El Abdi commended Nyong’o for his visionary leadership, further promising to cooperate with him in many fronts including culture and trade.
The two cities will have a conference in September over the same issue.
