This year’s regional games are being held amid tighter scrutiny to ensure fair play. Prior to the flag off, all participating teams underwent a rigorous vetting process at Moi Stadium and Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo.
The exercise was aimed at verifying player eligibility and curbing age cheating, an issue that has raised concerns in past tournaments. Officials described the vetting as crucial in promoting transparency and fair competition.
Over 60 secondary schools from Kisumu County are participating in the Term II games. Besides the major ball games, students will also compete in indoor games such as chess, scrabble and table tennis. Matches will be played at several designated venues, including Moi Stadium, Kisumu Boys High School and other selected school grounds.
