Kisumu Central NG-CDF launches education and skills empowerment initiatives

Approximately 13,000 students, including both secondary and college students, benefit from the constituency’s bursary programme.

The Kisumu Central National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) has earmarked several key education projects to empower local citizens.

Dr Joshua Oron, the area Member of Parliament, revealed that the projects include classroom renovations, equipping schools with new laboratories, and completing stalled infrastructure developments.

Dr Oron highlighted that Kosawo Secondary School, initiated by his predecessor, Fred Ouda, is nearing completion.

In addition, a new secondary school will be constructed at St Paul’s Kanyakwar Primary School to serve the local catchment area. Another girls’ secondary school is being built within Kisumu Union Junior School to accommodate students from the surrounding areas.

The MP shared that the new school would serve a wide catchment, benefiting senior students from neighbourhoods such as Manyatta, Car Wash, Obunga, and adjacent areas. Additionally, Dr Oron stated that eight new laboratories are being developed within the constituency, with five already completed.

Currently, approximately 13,000 students, both secondary and college students, benefit from the constituency’s bursary programme. Several schools have also undergone renovations to improve their facilities.

Dr. Oron further mentioned that his office has allocated KSh 10 million to train motor and cycle riders within the constituency.

Initially, 400 drivers were trained, with plans to increase this number to 2,000. The initiative aims to empower local riders and enhance road safety, benefiting the riders and the communities that depend on them.
