The Woman Representative of Kisii Doris Aburi has donated over 200 wheelchairs to aid children living with disabilities in the region.

Addressing the public from her office, Aburi urged parents not to hide their children with disabilities but to embrace and support them with love and education.

She emphasized the importance of treating these children equally and not subjecting them to social stigmatization by keeping them hidden from the public.

“Individuals with disabilities possess untapped mental abilities that can flourish when provided with education and essential learning materials,” Aburi stressed.

She further acknowledged that her resources alone are insufficient to cater to all those in need and called upon other compassionate individuals to contribute and assist in this endeavor.

“This is a charitable organization that requires a collective effort from many individuals,” Aburi remarked.

Additionally, the Woman Representative highlighted other initiatives undertaken by her office to benefit the community, including the drilling of boreholes in each sub-county and the provision of water tanks.

She supplied 50 water tanks with a capacity of 10,000 liters to selected primary schools, encouraging them to store water during the rainy season to prepare for dry spells.

This proactive water conservation program aims to prevent young girls from having to travel long distances to fetch water, thereby reducing their vulnerability to potential threats.
