Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Aburi has intensified her call for harsher punishment for individuals involved in defilement and impregnating underage girls.
Addressing the media after meeting teen mothers at the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Recovery Centre in Kisii town, Aburi revealed that she has already introduced a Bill in Parliament aimed at tightening laws under the Sexual Offences Act (2006). The proposed amendments have successfully passed the first reading and seek to strengthen awareness and prevention measures against GBV in schools and communities.

She highlighted that many survivors of sexual violence often lack proper information on how to collect and preserve evidence, a gap that frequently undermines efforts to secure convictions in court.
Aburi urged teen mothers to enrol in the Social Health Authority (SHA) program to access free antenatal and postnatal care. She further pledged support for young people who left school due to various hardships, promising sponsorship for those ready to resume their education.
