Kisii teachers, leaders bid emotional farewell to principal who transformed school’s fortunes

Dr. Julius Keng'eti, retired Chief Principal of Nyachogochogo Secondary School.

Nyachogochogo Secondary School in Kisii County has had two significant events in recent years: hosting the Kisii County KSSSA Term Two Secondary Schools Sports Competitions and the retirement of the institution’s principal.

The School’s sponsor, Pentecost Assemblies of God (PAG), led by Elder James Morang’a, stated that these were great blessings from God to the community, as their school was able to host such great occasions within a short span of time.

“We thank God for leading our Principal successfully, and he is going home to join his family and the relatives,”  prayed the elder.

Many people, including Principals from other schools and various stakeholders, attended the retirement ceremony at the school on July 5.

Most speakers termed Dr Julius Keng’eti as a hard-working principal who always encouraged his colleagues to advance in education.

In his farewell speech, Dr Keng’eti urged students to remain focused on their studies so that they can receive a quality education that will enable them to lead their communities effectively.

He told teachers that advanced education, such as a PhD in education, opens up many wider opportunities for service even after retirement.

Dr Charles Ombati, who attended the ceremony, said that those who advance their education can continue working as researchers, counsellors, or administrative consultants well after retirement.

“After retirement, one can open a business based on their areas of specialisation to create job opportunities for other people in the community,” he said.

He excited participants when he took the congregation through some of the reasons for teachers not aging quickly unlike people from other professions.

He singled out physical exercise by teachers who walk in classrooms as they teach, eating local food fresh from the farm with enough nutritional enrichment.

He asked serving teachers to emulate Dr.Keng’eti by upholding integrity and personal integrity in their professional work.
