Members of the teaching fraternity in Kisii, affiliated with the Kenya Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), now have reason to smile after the resumption of Medical Administration Kenya Limited (MAKL) services at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The medical services to member teachers at the facility had been suspended due to the insurance’s failure to remit the members’ contributions to the facility.
In a notification seen by Education News from the Kisii branch, Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha expressed his gratitude to members for resumption, as it had become a bane to teachers.

Saying that teachers’ health and their families are paramount to the success of education in this country, he promised that his office will stand firm to ensure their social and economic security is safeguarded.
“Your trust and resilience have been invaluable, and we will remain committed to ensuring that your health needs are prioritised and well addressed,” he said.
Regarding the ongoing teacher recruitment exercise, he asked those entrusted with the exercise to be fair and serve each applicant according to the tabulated rules and regulations governing the exercise.
