Kisii School, in collaboration with the East African Educational Publishers (EAEP), will host the 2026 Kisii School Annual English Workshop on 6th February 2026, bringing together teachers of English for an intensive professional engagement aimed at transforming classroom practice and assessment outcomes.
The workshop is designed as a response to emerging challenges in the teaching of English at secondary school level, particularly in relation to interpretation, coherence and learner expression in national examinations.
The forum will focus on strengthening teachers’ mastery of English Papers 101/1 (Functional Skills), 101/2 (Literary Appreciation), and 101/3 (Set Texts) through practical, classroom-ready strategies.

A key highlight of the 2026 edition will be in-depth training on the episodic approach to teaching and analysing set texts under Paper 101/3.
This approach enables teachers to guide learners in organising ideas logically, engaging with texts critically and responding accurately to examination questions.
The facilitators from EAEP and seasoned educators will lead interactive sessions, demonstrations, and guided discussions aimed at bridging the gap between syllabus expectations and learner performance.
Speaking ahead of the workshop, Denis Gwako, Head of the English Department at Kisii School, noted that the initiative is part of a broader effort to empower teachers with current methodologies that respond to the evolving demands of the KCSE examination.
He added that the workshop also provides a platform for professional exchange, peer learning, and sharing of best practices.
