A school in Kisii inaugurates new board tasked to boost performance, development

Botoro Mixed Secondary school in Bonchari Constituency, Kisii County has inaugurated a new school management with the high hopes of uniting parents, teachers and students to enable the school boost its performance and spur development.

Speaking at the school during the inauguration, the incoming chairman Kennedy Mogire thanked the local education office and the parents for showing confidence in him and his team and promised to steer the school to achieve its desired goals for the next years.

“We know the school has many internal challenges but I am sure with the capacity of able men and women you have chosen, we will work diligently to keep the school on its right track.” He said.

The chairman further shared roadmap for the success of the school saying that he had consulted the area chief and Ward representatives and agreed to work as a team with area MP Charles Onchoke to boost education and infrastructure standard in the school.

He however lamented the declining population of the school from 300 students in 2023 to 180 in this year which he attributed to the poor management of the school.

Mogire and his team said that their first task in the school will be the mobilization of resources from the NG-CDF office, parents and other financial bodies to revive the construction of the new storied classrooms that have stalled for more than five years to provide conducive learning environment that will attract and increase the school’s enrolment.

Parents who were led by Karen Nyansiaboka, expressed their optimism in the incoming school new Board of management and urged them to learn from the past teams’ bad record and settle down to change the bad narrative and champion the interests and welfare of the school.
