Kisii residents urge MP to complete stalled projects at two colleges

Residents of Ibeno Ward in Nyaribari Chache constituency, Kisii County have appealed to area Member of Parliament (MP) Zahir Jhanda to complete the construction of two institutions of learning that had stalled.

Led by Just Mosoti they cited the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Ibeno campus and Ibeno Technical Training Institute (TTI) as priority projects that were initiated by the previous administration but stalled due to unknown reasons.

“These institutions were started here by the past regime but the current one has abandoned them probably because of political reasons,” he said.

He said that they had offered their land for construction of the facilities but wondered why they are still pending.

The residents asked area leaders to desist from politicizing development projects saying it derails progress in the region.

Mosoti said that completion of the two institutions especially the KMTC campus will be a boost to the youth because it will absorb and train many schools leavers from the region.

He added that it will also create employment and provide ready market for locally produced food such as bananas and sugarcane.

“If the local NG-CDF office has no money let them tell us, we are ready to fundraise and complete the buildings,” said Jane Omae, a resident.

She lamented on rising insecurity and alleged that it was caused by idling school leavers who lacked employment.

The residents accused the Police at Ibeno Station who they said colluded with the desperate youth to way lay and rob them.

They asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kintiki to transfer the police officers who have stayed at the station for more than 5 months to avoid familiarity with wayward residents.
