Kisii politicians warned against using education initiatives to gain political mileage

Residents of South Mugirango, Kisii County have cautioned politicians against using education initiatives to settle scores and gain political mileage.

This is after chaos broke out when South Mugirango MP Sylivanus Osoro allegedly hired goons and attempted to attack Governor Simba Arati while he was distributing County Education Fund application forms at Nyakembene market.

Further, the discontent became worse when the governor distributed school bags branded with his picture to school children, and Osoro distributed sanitary pads and t-shirts branded with his name.

Parents, led by Zachariah Moturi, urged the two politicians to settle their rivalry and channel funds through meaningful projects.

“If the two leaders have the heart of serving the community, let them channel their help through school management committees instead of using our children as advertisement billboards,” he said.

Kisii County Commissioner Tom Anjere confirmed the allegations and promised to get to the bottom of the matter.

He asked parents to focus on supporting their children’s education and avoid political distractions.
