Kisii University Chaplain Father Lawrence Nyaanga has reminded parents to take care of their children following rising cases of abuse and kidnapping in the region.

This comes a week after an SDA Pastor was arrested over alleged child trafficking.

He was apprehended together with two Marsabit residents after locals raised alarm when the suspects checked into a hotel with ten children.

They claimed that they were taking the children to an orphanage in Eberege, Kenyenya sub-county for an educational sponsorship.

Kisii County Police Commander Charles Kases confirmed the incident and stated the suspects are being detained at Kisii Central Police Station and investigations are already underway.

The children were examined at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital before being taken to Kisii Children’s Home.

The incident came barely two weeks after a Pastor from Bomet was arrested in Kisii town with a Form 4 schoolgirl.

The Pastor allegedly eloped with the girl and was heading for Kisumu town before being intercepted by the Police.

Furthermore, another family is still in agony waiting for their 10-year-old son, Cyrus Makori, who was kidnapped two years ago and his whereabouts are still yet to be known.

Macline Makori, his mother, narrated that Cyrus went missing after leaving their compound for an evening walk.

“My son left home jokingly. When night came, we thought he had slept at our neighbour’s house and would come back in the morning, but he never returned,” she said.

She appealed to anybody with information about her son to report to any nearby Police Station.
