A 20-year-old girl’s body was discovered in a shallow grave after she was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend and buried there.
Police from Nyamira South Sub-County said the body was found in the grave at Maosa village after she had been missing from her home for one month.
However, the police were tipped by the deceased’s brother, who said that he received a short phone message from the suspect, who revealed where he dumped the body after the murder for undisclosed reasons.
According to the deceased’s mother, her daughter received a phone call in the evening. She left for her boyfriend’s home despite being refused permission, but she never returned until she was found dead.
The mother narrated that the duo has been friends since secondary school.
She said that her daughter was learning at Nyamusi Girls’ School, as the boy was at Ntana Secondary in the county.
She said that both of them passed in their last year’s KCSE examinations and were admitted to Machakos University, where they were expected to join this month.

“I struggled to educate my daughter by exhausting all family resources and hoped she would join a University and complete her studies to help the family, but now I will see her going down into the grave, ” said the tearful mother.
Area Chief Livingstone Mouti thanked the residents for cooperating to exhume the decomposing body.
The police identified the body as Faith Obino, a former student at Nyamusi Girls in Ekerenyo Division of Nyamira County.
They moved it to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.
They named the suspect as Gideon Monari, 24, a former student of Ntana, who was seen by the police as they looked for him to assist them with the investigation.
Nyamira South Deputy County Commissioner Florence Onunga termed the killing as beastly and promised that no stone would be left unturned concerning the heinous act.
She asked parents to train their children about self-discipline and control to avoid being endangered by those who pretend to be good friends.
