A man escaped death narrowly from irate villagers of Nyaramba in Etatago Sub-county when they found him defiling a girl living with disability.

According to the villagers, they heard the minor, who is an orphan learning at Metaburo Primary School, screaming from her room as her attacker broke the window and entered the room to defile her.

When he sensed danger, he tried to run away, but he was netted by the alert mob who bayed for his blood. He was rescued by the Nyumba Kumi groups, who asked them not to take the law into their own hands.

They handed him to the area Assistant Chief, who alerted Etago police to take him to their station to record a statement.

The abused minor was taken to Etago Health Centre, where she underwent treatment.

Her elder sister, Jackline Moraa, narrated how she was left alone to take care of her younger sister after both of their parents passed away and wondered why the attacker came to remind her of their suffering by defiling her sister, who is living with physical disability and asked for justice to be done by the police.

Etago police officers identified the suspect as Dennis Ouma, who allegedly raped and defiled the disabled girl.

The brother of the assaulted girl, who identified himself as Evans Obara, said that the suspect is a habitual defiler of children.

However, he keeps dodging the police every time he is reported to them.

He appealed to the area County Commissioner, who is a mother too, to follow up on the matter and rescue the girl child from the region, which is filled with many child abuse-related cases.

He said that if the situation is left unattended, it might lead to many teenage pregnancies, early marriages and school dropout cases in the region.
