Kisii leaders plant trees ahead of President Ruto’s visit

Nyanza Regional Commissioner Zipporah Robi leads by example to plant trees at Cardinal Otunga ahead of President William Ruto's visit.

Kisii leaders have planted more than 300 indigenous trees in Cardinal Otunga Mosocho High School ahead of President William Ruto’s visit.

Led by Nyanza Regional Commissioner Zipporah Robi, civil servants and local leaders rallied the locals behind the cause.

The commissioner asked schools and other institutions like churches and prisons to make tree-planting a routine event in order to reach the 15 billion target as set by the Head of State.

“I would like other institutions to copy this school in setting internal systems that advocate for climate change mitigations,” she said.

Flanked by Kisii County Commissioner Tom Anjere, she said that plans to receive President Ruto to the region for a fundsdrive for the new Mosocho Parish were at advanced stages.

The Catholic-sponsored school, represented by Christopher Osinde, confirmed the presidential visit to the area, appealing to all residents to turn up to receive the president irrespective of political affiliations.
