Kisii leaders bet big on education to uplift livelihoods

South Mugirango Constituency Member of Parliament Sylivanus Osoro has said that he will mobilize all former and current leaders from Kisii region to support educational development.

He remarked that for any society to progress, there must be unity and quality education to guide them.

Osoro said that during his first term in parliament, he embarked on the building and renovation of classrooms in most of the schools and called for the residents to join hands with him to support bright children from poor homes to acquire quality education during his second tenure.

Osoro who is the Parliamentary Chief Whip was speaking at Bombure village in Kisii County during the burial of Mama Marcellah Nyasetia.

He said that his NG-CD office had issued cheques worth Ksh 35 million towards education bursary fund for University and Secondary School learners.

“We gave this phase and hope to add more in the next allocation,” he said.

The late Mama Nyasetia was the mother to the two former Members of Parliament for South Mugirango Constituency the late Enock Nyankieya Omingo Magara and Kisii County nominated MCA Callen Magara.

The funeral was also attended by Kisii County Governor Simba Arati flanked by his wife and Deputy Governor Robert Monda.

On his part,Arati called for unity among the elected leaders from the county for the prosperity of the current generation and the posterity.

He thanked the elected leaders from the region for giving priority to the development of education and revealed that his government had topped the NG-CDF funds in the region with more than Sh.105 million towards the education of children from poor families.

He advised the youth who never got the opportunity to join University to enroll in the local Technical Training Institutes to acquire professional skills for their survival.

“In nowadays, technology is the way to go join these available institutes to enable you get a base for your higher career progression,” he said.

The Governor poured accolades to the late Magara and his wife Nyasetia for nurturing their children with Christian principles and good education that enabled the family to produce three National leaders.

“This is a family that has left a legacy in this village and beyond,” he said.

The governor asked other parents in the country to emulate the family by providing their children With good education as the only reliable inheritance.
