The Governor of Kisii County Simba Arati has issued a plea for peace among residents during the holiday season, emphasizing the need for a tranquil environment for children returning home from school.
Speaking to a diverse assembly from all 11 sub-counties, Arati expressed concern over the increasing chaos in Kisii, dubbing it one of the most perilous places for crime.
The Governor accused unnamed elected leaders of inciting youth to sow discord.
He further attributed such unrest to political rivals envious of his visionary leadership, highlighting initiatives like organizing bodaboda operators into a cooperative that has accumulated over Ksh. 60 million for mutual assistance.

Urging the youth to steer clear of illicit activities during the holiday, he encouraged them to utilize empowerment centers and public libraries for personal growth.
Religious leaders, including Pastor Peter Morwabe and Bishop Lawrence Nyanuga, joined in condemning crime in Kisii and pledged to pray for divine intervention.
The leaders called on the National Government to reconsider the presence of the General Service Police in Kisii town, citing unnecessary panic and fear among young children.
However, the County Commissioner, Tom Anjere, clarified that the GSU presence is part of a security routine to reinforce regular police during the December holiday and upcoming festivities.
Also in attendance was the Deputy Governor Dr. Robert Monda, County Speaker Philip Nyanumba and several Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
