Kisii Governor prioritizes children’s safety and well-being in his agenda

Kisii County Governor Simba Arati

Kisii County Governor, Simba Arati, has underscored the pressing need to prioritize the safety and well-being of children, recognizing them as the linchpin of the nation’s future.

Addressing the press at his Motonto Home in Bobasi Constituency, he unveiled a series of strategies that his government has set in motion to ensure the protection of children.

“My administration is committed to the construction of quality housing for children from underprivileged backgrounds. This initiative aims to provide a stable environment for them to focus on their education, promoting equality for all,” he affirmed.

This endeavor is being undertaken through the ‘Tujenge na Simba Initiative,’ which seeks to fund individual homes and enhance government children’s facilities to shield children from various forms of abuse.

The Governor further voiced concern over statistics revealing that many families struggle to provide even a single meal per day for their children.

To counter this, he plans to bolster the agricultural sector by employing more agriculture extension officers.

“These officers will educate residents on how to increase food production, thereby enabling children to thrive in rural areas rather than resorting to life on the streets,” Arati stated.

The Governor also called for a shift in the community’s attitude towards street children, urging understanding and empathy rather than judgment.

Additionally, he implored teachers to be vigilant in safeguarding children, emphasizing their critical role in nurturing the next generation.

Arati appealed to other community workers to volunteer their services in child care facilities such as Kiamuasi and Kisii Children’s Home, underscoring that child care is a collective societal responsibility.

He reiterated his commitment to enhancing the employment conditions and benefits for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers to recognize their indispensable role in fostering holistic child growth.
