Elders from Nyaribari Masaba constituency have defended Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu and termed him a national leader aiming to better the education development in the country.
The elders’ response come after Kitutu Chache South MP Antony Kibagendi claimed Machogu used his position to influence the employment of many teachers from his area at the expense of other regions, further asking Machogu to be transparent and accountable while discharging his duties.
Led by the Kennedy Nyaboga, the Chairman of Nyaribari Masaba Community Development Group, the elders asked the MP to approach and consult the CS on the development of matters education like infrastructural development in schools, sponsoring the education of needy students and improving internet connectivity in schools in his constituency.
Nyaboga asked the MP to accord the senior civil servant the respect he deserves.
“If you have any issues with the CS, approach him and amicably solve your issues instead of washing dirty linen in public. If both of you can’t solve your differences we are there as elders to help,” he said.
The elders praised Machogu for his efforts in improving the education sector and asked his critics to give him ample time to steer the education sector to higher level.
They thanked Machogu for presiding over a fund raiser at Mobamba Secondary School in to aid them expand classrooms and a dining hall.
