Kisii County lifts Nyanza school games trophy

Kisii County took the lead in the first term Secondary School Games for Nyanza region that were held at Kisii School recently.

According to the Nyanza Region Technical Bench Coordinator, Maurice Omolo, the county invested more in sports as it was apparent from individual institutions like Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, Kisii School and Nduru Boys’ High School.

“The good performance by winning teams was proportional to the financial input by the principals,” he said.

In the list seen by Education News, Kisii County leads with 52 points per cent followed by Homa Bay County which garnered 48 points.

Kisumu County took position three followed by Migori County which had 41 points as Siaya County was contented with 35 points that landed them in the sixth position.

Nyamira County held the tail with only 22 points.

Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Association Chairman, Fred Mogaka, praised the Schools that performed well.

“I thank those who represented us well and hope they will perform better at National level, let them have an ultimate goal of competing perfectly rather than completing,” he said.

Mogaka who doubles up as the principal of Kisii National School appealed to individual coaches to start training their teams earlier to enable them get good coordination among participants.
