Kisii County Government will employ 200 ECDE teachers in this financial year to reinforce those 742 who were employed and confirmed as permanent and pensionable educators in the county early this year.
Kisii County Governor Simba Arati, who addressed the public at Gusii Stadium on Friday, 24, 2025, said the recruitment process, which started immediately, is part of his government’s long-term plan to streamline and stabilise early education in the region, as it is the foundation of education.
“We are focused and determined to improve early education standards by putting up new modern structures to accommodate our young learners and improving the lives of their caregivers through proper remuneration and promotions,” he said.
The governor cautioned the applicants against falling victim to people impersonating his officers who solicit funds to employ them. He instructed the public to report such people to the police for arrest and arraignment in court.

“We have agreed with my Public Service Board members to shun bribery if any one of them asks a bribe from you, report to me to sack them,” he said.
He revealed that more than 800 employees across different departments in the county will be promoted, depending on their good work, to motivate them.
He wondered why some workers in the county have remained in the same job group for more than 10 years due to a lack of proper working structures. He asked the Chairman of the Public Service Board and his team to address the anomaly.
Concerning salary increments for workers in different cadres, Arati said his office will look into the matter and respond to the workers’ requests.
He was proud to report that his decisive crackdown on ghost workers in the county had yielded good results as the county reduced its wage bills from 65 to 33 per cent, saying that the reclaimed funds would be used to increase the salaries of the county’s bona fide employees.
