All security and logistical arrangements have been finalized in Kisii County ahead of this year’s national examinations, County Commissioner Joseph Kibet has announced.

Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Marani Stadium in Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kibet said adequate security personnel and storage facilities have been deployed to guarantee the safety of examination materials before and after transportation to the centres.

He assured the public that despite forecasts of heavy rains later this month and early November, the government had provided sturdy vehicles capable of navigating muddy rural roads to ensure timely delivery of exam papers.

Kibet further cautioned parents, students, and the public against individuals peddling fake examination papers, urging them to report such offenders to authorities for immediate legal action.

“If you encounter anyone selling fake papers, avoid them and report to the nearest office,” he warned.

The County Commissioner wished all candidates success, urging them to have confidence in their abilities.

He also led residents in observing a minute of silence in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, describing him as a consistent and resilient champion of democracy and development.

“I urge teachers and students to emulate Raila’s persistence and dedication in their academic and personal pursuits,” he said.

Governor Simba Arati, who led the Mashujaa Day celebrations alongside his deputy Elijah Obebo, highlighted progress made by the county government in the education, health, and agriculture sectors. He noted that more ECDE classrooms have been built and additional teachers employed to cater to the growing number of learners.

Arati urged the youth to embrace modern skills such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology to remain relevant in a changing world instead of engaging in drug abuse and other destructive behaviours.

“Quality education will empower you to think critically and become responsible citizens,” he said.

He reminded the youth that freedom of expression should be exercised responsibly, advising them against disrupting political meetings.

“If you dislike a politician, avoid their meeting, don’t go to heckle them. You might end up in one of our many hospitals,” he cautioned.

The event featured choirs, art displays, and performances by local artists and students. A young pupil captured attention when he showcased a handmade wooden motorcycle, drawing praise from the governor.

“I see the making of future engineers, our teachers are doing an excellent job,” Arati said, urging parents and educators to nurture children’s talents by offering materials and motivation to help them grow.
