KISE Expo on assistive tech kicks off today in Kasarani

The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) Expo on specialized learning materials, assistive devices and technology has kicked off today at the institution’s Assessment and Research Centre in Kasarani.

The expo, themed ‘An African Expo on Specialised Learning Resources, Assistive Devices and Technology’, is aiming to establish partnerships and networks for the production, provision, supply and distribution of specialized learning materials, assistive devices and assistive technology.

Sub-themes to be explored include Specialised Learning Materials, Assistive Devices and Technology, where manufacturers and suppliers will showcase specialized learning materials and engage with users to establish new markets.

Also, Resourcing for Specialised Learning Resources, Assistive Devices and Technology, User Perspective on Specialised Learning Materials, Assistive Devices and Technology, Policy perspective on Specialised Learning Materials, Assistive devices and Technology, and AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will be explored.

The expo is expected to expose users to available solutions regarding specialized learning materials, assistive devices and technology for persons with special needs and disabilities.

Among the key dignitaries expected to grace the event are the Principal Secretary (PS) for Basic Education Dr. Belio Kipsang’, institutions of higher learning, manufacturers, researchers, educationists, persons with disabilities, parents and caregivers among others.
